Humpty Dumpty

Carly Bretecher plays Humpty Dumpty and here's what she wanted to say to you:

I like musical thater because it is a fun experience where you make friends and get to show your passion

my fave part is the song make a move because of the beat of the song and it's very funny

donkey is my fave character

Gingy

Here is what Gingy (Kieran Lloyd) had to say:

Favourite Part: Forever with Dragon and the knights. The actress playing Dragon is amazing and I just love the music and the blocking! I also really like "What's Up, Duloc?". The dance is a lot of fun and our Farquaad does the entire dance (and the show, for that matter) on his knees. It's great!

Why I like being in musical: I've always loved dance and singing and acting, so it's great times three. Also, I love all my musical friends to death and it's SO MUCH FUN! Anyone who has never been in a musical should try it at some point!

I'm the voice of the Gingerbread Man (otherwise known as Gingy). Onstage, you'll see me as the fairy in pink holding the Gingy puppet. I'm also one of the Duloc dancers and one of the tap dancing rats in "Morning Person" at the beginning of Act II.

Questions for Fiona

Taryn Wichenko is doing a great job of playing Fiona in the musical and here's what she told me:

My favourite part of the musical is the last song after the bows, "I'm a Believer". I like this because all of the characters are all together on stage singing a song that was made famous by the movie Shrek. It really ties the classic movie with the newer musical together quite well.

I like being in musical mainly because I can't get enough of performing. I find there's nothing like it and it gives me such a thrill.

My favourite character is Lord Farquaad, he is so incredibly funny and I love all the little jokes that go along with his character.
This musical is a hilarious show for anyone. It's perfect for kids, but not only, as there are so many references that adults can enjoy too.

Questions for Shrek

I asked a lot of questions to different people but first, here is what the ogre himself (played by Sammy Cooper) had to say:

"I enjoy the literal obvious elements, like performing solo vocal numbers, collaboration to make something bigger than each person can do on their own. It's also really interesting to get inside the head of a character;
To think and act as they would, literally BECOMING that person. That's an interesting thing to think about, and I would bet that a really good actor is someone who can relate to people well for that reason. It's also tons of fun working with a cast that is able to focus on creating a really well produced show. There's a lot of elements which make being a part of a musical theater production a pretty fantastic experience."

Shrek!

This year, sturgeon heights collegiate is proud to present Shrek: the musical!
We have performances from December 4-7 at 7 pm in the Sturgeon Heights theater and tickets are 10$ before November 20 and 12$ anytime after. You can get them online (I'll post the address later) or at the school. In case you dont know a lot about it, here is the official summary:
In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre- not a handsome prince- shows up to rescue a fiesty princess. Throw in a donkey who won't shut up, a bad guy with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairytale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand... And his name is Shrek.

I was asked to talk about Shrek on the library's blog and give a little "interview" with some of our stars but I thought everyone else might like the chance to say something too.
We've been working hard for 3 months and we can't wait to bring a great show to the stage!
